Dedicated to holistic healing and resilient growth

When burnout, anxiety, and stress signal that something has to change, we offer a space to heal the root, not just the symptoms. We guide you toward being deeply rooted in your authentic self and well nested in supportive relationships.

“When we are rooted in what is true in our mind, body, and spirit, the future we long for becomes the life we live today.”

More than a name, it’s the heart of our practice

Inner strength and a grounded identity.

We help you discover your intrinsic worth and align your choices with your core values. This root system affirms strengths, invites reflection, and allows space to speak with steadiness and clarity.

Emotional safety and supportive relationships.

Therapy should encourage trust, mutual care, and healthy boundaries. We move away from the myth of hyper-individualism and ask: “are your relationships truly safe and nurturing?”

Deeply Rooted & Well Nested

We are built on one central idea: healing flourishes when we’re deeply rooted in self-worth and identity, and well nested in supportive, safe community. We aim for the future you long for to become the life you live today.

Pillars of Our Approach

Trauma-Informed & Holistic

We recognize that trauma lives in the body and prioritize compassionate, Mind/Body practices like EMDR and somatic therapies to restore safety and regulation from the ground up.

The RN Difference

Joanna’s background as a Registered Nurse (RN) is infused in our approach. We see the connection between unresolved trauma and chronic health, so we focus on the root cause by blending medical insight with deep therapeutic compassion.

Kinship & Belonging

Healing is communal and relational. We foster mutual care, recognizing that hyper-individualism is a myth; everyone depends on one another.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the first step look like?

Booking the first session is always the hardest step. We highly recommend starting with a free consultation.

Do you work with insurance?

Yes! Rooted. Nested. uses the platform Headway for all clients looking to use insurance for their counseling sessions. Rooted. Nested. accepts most insurance plans and will be verified through Headway for confirmation. For clients who are out-of-network, we do offer private-pay as well.

How do I know if my pain is ‘bad enough’ for therapy?

We work to dismantle the idea of comparative suffering. Pain is pain, regardless of the heaviness of the subject. If you are experiencing burnout, nervous system overload, irritability, anger, anxiety, or feeling numb/checked out, your suffering is real and worth addressing. You don’t have to ‘just get over’ emotional pain.

What does Mind and Body mean in the world of therapy?

We use a combined approach. While traditional talk therapy is strictly cognitive, focusing solely on our thoughts and emotional feelings, Mind/Body focuses on what your body is doing using modalities like EMDR and somatic work to restore safety and regulation, which is essential for lasting trauma healing.

Are you equipped to handle my specific trauma (e.g., religious, domestic violence)?

Yes. Many clients come to us after finding a previous therapist who wasn’t equipped to handle their trauma. A combination of personal and professional experience informs my ability to provide an inclusive, stigma-free space for healing from various complex issues.
